Surfactants (Aquative®) — Acid Retarders

Aquative-221 is a proprietary formulation of non-ionic surfactants in an aqueous base, engineered to function as an effective acid retarder in oilfield stimulation operations. This product is specifically designed to emulsify hydrochloric acid, thereby significantly reducing its reaction rate with carbonate formations. By modifying the acid’s contact behavior through emulsification, Aquative-221 enables deeper acid penetration into the reservoir before spending occurs—optimizing stimulation effectiveness and minimizing near-wellbore damage. In addition to retarding the acid reaction, the formulation alters the wettability of the formation rock, creating a temporary oil-wet condition or protective film that further acid-rock interaction.
