Surfactants (Aquative®) — Iron Control

Aquative-811 is a specialized chelating additive formulated to remain effective in spent acid environments, even when elevated calcium levels are present. It complexes both ferric (Fe³+) and ferrous (Fe²+) ions in systems with pH values up to 9.5. By binding these ions, Aquative-811 prevents the formation of insoluble iron compounds that would otherwise precipitate from spent acid and diminish treatment performance. Maintaining iron in a soluble state helps ensure that it is carried out of the formation with the returning treatment fluids. The product also contributes to minimizing acid sludge that can occur when iron precipitates. In addition, Aquative-811 serves as a suitable iron control agent for linear fracturing fluids operating at pH levels above 7.
